As the kids leave the house, we’re gearing up for some much needed updates on our home. Although we keep going back and forth on the idea of selling when we’re finished, either way … the updates need to be done. So regardless of whether we keep the home to rent out, or just flat out sell it when we’re ready to move…
…..we’re heading into some exciting
room makeovers. (And EVERY room needs it!)
We started with our living room a few years back. Here’s some before pics:
We removed the carpet and laid down wood floors. We even left a nice surprise for the new homeowners should they ever decide to change the flooring:
Just two body outlines with blood splatter. Hey now …. doesn’t every parent teach their children how to create the perfect blood splatter using spray paint and a box???
This is the end result. LOTS of hours to transform this room. But I love it.
We removed the heat registers and installed in-floor heating in the living room. We also installed the corner gas fireplace and two ceiling light fans. It sure makes the living room more cozy and walking across the heated floor on the cold mornings sure feels nice!
This Summer, we updated our kitchen. We’re still not done, but it’s MUCH better with the big projects completed. The cabinets were brown so we painted them black and the walls gray. Just the paint alone made it look fabulous. But then you add the pallet wall and the butcher block center island … it completely transforms and updates this kitchen! We also installed our black dishwasher after these pics were taken.

I began keeping track of our expenses when we started the kitchen. So going forward, I’ll be logging the expenses for each room.
I’m really loving the idea of remodeling our home. If I could make a living out of buying and renovating homes …. hmmm … I could still do that. You never know. (I’ll have to think about this one.)
